Myoskeletal Alignment Technique

Targeted bodywork that corrects the muscle imbalances and strain patterns behind common neck and back pain.

What Is Myoskeletal Alignment?

Myoskeletal Alignment Technique (MAT) is a specialized form of bodywork developed by Erik Dalton, PhD, of the Freedom From Pain Institute. MAT detects and corrects muscle imbalances that distort the body's structural framework.

It integrates spinal biomechanics with deep tissue work—but with a gentler, more mindful approach. MAT focuses on preventing dysfunctional compensatory patterns and restoring balance, addressing the strain patterns behind common neck and back issues before they become pain.

The first step is to bring the body back into balance. Once we achieve that, we focus on maintaining it—so the problem doesn't return.
