The Healing Crisis
Your body carries the memory of all your life experiences. Restoring it to health is a journey—not a one-time event. True healing requires letting go of expectations and agendas. Myofascial Release (MFR) is not a quick fix; it works by helping you feel deeply, and feeling is an essential part of meaningful change.
After treatment, it’s common to experience what’s known as a healing crisis. This occurs as the body releases stored toxins and begins to rebalance. Depending on your unique level of imbalance, you may notice temporary symptoms such as joint or muscle soreness, headaches, fatigue, mild flu-like symptoms, or general discomfort.
These responses are normal and healthy, indicating that metabolic waste is being released from restricted connective tissue. Drinking plenty of water can support your body in flushing these substances and help minimize discomfort. While this period may feel challenging, it is actually a sign that healing is taking place.
The most important thing is to stay the course—discomfort does not mean harm. Continuing treatment allows your body to gradually release tension and restore function.
In this context, a healing crisis is part of your body’s natural process of reorganizing and releasing long-standing restrictions. As tension unwinds and deeper patterns of holding begin to shift, you may notice sensations temporarily intensifying or new feelings emerging. This shift reflects your body moving toward a more balanced state rather than a setback, and it is typically brief and self‑limiting when supported with hydration, rest, and gentle care: Understanding the Healing Crisis
